The Flagstaff Community Band Scholarship Program

The Flagstaff Community Band is proud to support the next generation of musicians through our annual Scholarship Program. Each year, we celebrate the hard work and talent our high school student members by awarding scholarships to help them continue their musical journey.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for a Flagstaff Community Band Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Graduated from high school in the same year as the award.

  2. Be accepted to a college, community college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall semester

  3. Be a current and active member of the Flagstaff Community Band (see Participation Policy below)

  4. Complete the application linked below

Please note: Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee funding. Scholarships are competitive and awarded based on level of participation, overall contribution to the band, and availability of funds.

Participation Policy

The Flagstaff Community Band Scholarship is intended to recognize and support students who have contributed consistently to the FCB. For the purposes of scholarship eligibility, an active member is someone who:

  • Regularly attends rehearsals

  • Arrives on time for rehearsals and performances

  • Participates in band performances

  • Contributes to the band community through at least one additional area, such as:

    • Assisting with setup or teardown

    • Volunteering at events

    • Supporting other members of the ensemble

Scholarships are competitive and based on demonstrated participation. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an award.

Application Process

  • Students must complete a short application form (available each summer)

  • Applicants will be asked to share how music has impacted their lives and how they plan to keep music in their future.

  • Final decisions are made by the FCB Board of Directors.
